Life Above Arctic

Life Above Arctic

When i was home last christmas I really got to test out my camera in hard conditions. The battery life shrinks drastically in -40 degrees (doesn’t matter if it’s fahrenheit or celsius at this point…). Anyway, the blue nordic light makes the pictures look very poetic, and it was so fun taking pictures. The Canon 50mm 1.4f lens really did a good job in the reduced light in the dark and gloomy northern norwegian winter.

Antler in the Snow Desert

Antler in the Snow Desert

Finding an antler in wild nature could be as difficult to find an needle in the haystack. With only a couple of hours with daylight, I followed the tracks of a group of four elk oxes, in 2 feet of snow and one hour later I catched up with them. After having a staring contest between us for half an hour, I finally retreated after realizing they could easily run me down and kill me very intensely if they wanted too… On my way back to our cabin, I couldn’t believe I stumbled upon on of the elks antlers! When walking home with the quite heavy piece, I wondered what I could use it for, a thing to hang jackets on? a bowl for the table? Or a candle light stand?

Redford Center Branding & Website

Friday 4th of february, 1919 Studio launched the new website of the Redford Center organization. We helped them with building their visual identity as well as their website. They are a center driven by creative innovation and social activism, and have deep commitments to social issues. The website and identity reckons this and strengthen on its minimal, raw and “untouched” design, giving it a grass root organization feeling. http://www.redfordcenter.org

Flyers for Kalottspel and Barentsungdom

It’s under two months for the next Kalottspel festival, and the flyers are ready to be handed out. The design for Barentsungdom is kept in the same “magical” and expressive style as the rest of the visual profile of Kalottspel. More info at www.kalottspel.no

Ritter Sport Campaign & Website

During the fall of 2009, 1919 Studio along with 021c communications created a social media campaign and website for Ritter Sport Chocolate.  This delicious chocolate from Germany comes in tons of varieties, and “luckily” enough, we sat left with plenty after one of our shoots that required over 6000 bars of Ritter Sport chocolate. Below you can watch the two videos we created and the website we designed for this campaign. www.rittersportfriends.com

A late Happy New Year

19 Jan

So finally a new year and a new decade is upon us. Behind us is a decade that have been described as the decade from hell. I had a great year anyhow. Living and breathing in New York city, but even as exciting, interesting and fun this town can be, it is also a great feeling of retreating to your home fields. I had a fantastic christmas spent in fresh arctic air, polar temperatures and a glooming darkness followed by a sound I almost had forgotten of. Utter silence.

Happy New Year

Wayfinding Design for Campus

A wayfinding and signage project, everything from typeface, color, materials, sizes, etc. had to be well thought of to make it a universal and artistic exceptional wayfinding system. This was a school project made for the University college of Gjøvik, on my group were three other exceptional designers: Oda Hveem, Mariann Freij and Kathrin Myrvang.

Philip Glass Album Art & Design

CD-cover and sleeve design project during my studying time at Central Saint Martins. The music is minimalistic classical music with a repetitive and atmospheric sound, which I’ve tried to express in the art.
